Care Philosophy

"The Philosophy of the Practice". In this single phrase is everything you need to know about a practitioner. Of the two basic concepts in the practice of medicine, the single prerequisite has to be intellectual acumen. Although a recent distrust of Allopathic Medicine has crept into vogue in some quarters in the last decade or two, the practice of medicine should be, no must be, evidence based, and self critical. You'll quickly find out that I have no agenda as to what is appropriate in medicine other than what works and is safe. Allopathic, Osteopathic, Homeopathic, Aromatherapy, I really don't care, Iridology, Magnetology! I mean it! If it turns out to have therapeutic benefit then it has a place in medicine. I am Board Certified and have subsequently been elected to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, this is the highest credentialing possible in this country. Being current on the latest concepts in medicine is absolutely vital. The debunking of Sacred Cows is just as important as being critical of the latest untested vogue. To this end I have set myself the task of taking a written exam every month from the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. In the last year I fulfilled about double the necessary number of Continuing Medical Education credits required for licensing.

The second basic concept of the practice of Medicine is the concept of Service. This is an almost sacred idea. It is deeply rooted in the very concept of being a doctor. Selflessness, Sacrifice, Service..........these are such powerful images involved in the process of being a Care Giver that it is almost unbelievable, almost a cause for skepticism, to evoke them in this day and age. The concept of Service is based on an a priori respect for every single person one comes into contact with, irrespective of.............anything.

How can you know whether any of these ideas are really, truthfully, ones that I ascribe to? I don't know how you can. But I am absolutely confident that every single patient that I attend to, will tell you that all of this is real for me.
